Maho Bay Camps

Maho Bay Camps on St. John in the US Virgin Islands opened in 1976 when the term “ecotourism” didn’t even exist.

With tent-cottages on wooden platforms and a path to a white sand beach there is peace and seclusion.

Hurricanes? They pull down the tents and after the severe weather bring out the lumber and repair the wooden trails.

If you are expecting the Hilton you might consider Maho Bay to be the “camp from Hell”. But if you are seeking intimacy with nature in one of the world’s most beautiful settings with comfort and convenience and at low cost, then from first-hand experience, I can tell you Maho Bay Camps will not disappoint you.

Then again, that “first hand experience” is over 20 years old. ;-) If any reader would like to tell a tale of the current Maho Bay Camps operation your story is most welcome here.
